Green Shoots had a fabulous, fruit-tastic finish to our Rainbow topic - we loved making our very own fruit salad together!
The children began by playing a fun “Guess the Fruit” game, passing around a mystery bag and using only their sense of touch to identify the fruit inside.
We then used rhythm sticks to sing our favourite fruit salad song, joining in with our repeated words: “chop, chop, chop” and “stir the fruit salad, store the fruit salad, this is how we stir the fruit salad.”
Next, we got busy making our fruit salad! The children practised peeling bananas, chopping them carefully, picking grapes and cutting them in half, and peeling oranges before separating the segments. These activities provided fantastic opportunities to develop their fine motor skills, strengthening finger control, coordination, and hand–eye movements.
Finally, we sat together and enjoyed our delicious fruit salad after lunch - a truly fabulous end to our topic!
