Reception Ends the Term with a Cozy Marshmallow Toast at Forest School

Reception Early Years

During our final Forest School session of the term, the Reception children gathered excitedly around the firepit for a special activity - toasting marshmallows!

They listened attentively as Ms Buick explained the fire safety rules, showing good awareness of how to keep ourselves and others safe. The children waited patiently for their turns, holding the marshmallow sticks carefully with support. They showed growing confidence and control as they extended their arm towards the fire, keeping a safe distance. While watching the marshmallow toast, we talked about how it was melting and the changes that we observed.

Once cooked, the children proudly tasted their marshmallow, using descriptive language such as “gooey,” “sticky,” or “sweet.” What a lovely Forest School session to end the term.
