This week in Reception, the children have been making the most of the beautiful sunny weather during our free-flow, child-initiated play sessions. With so many exciting activities on offer both indoors and outdoors, the children have been busy exploring, creating and collaborating.
Outside, there has been plenty of experimenting in the water play area, as well as imaginative cooking in the mud kitchen. The climbing equipment has been a popular choice too, with children challenging themselves physically and building confidence.
Indoors, the children have enjoyed the "Vet" role play area, along with playdough and painting.
These moments of child-initiated play are so valuable for the children’s social development. They have been practising important skills such as negotiating, solving problems, working together, compromising and listening to one another. Just as importantly, they have been enjoying themselves—relaxing, laughing and building friendships.
